Method
Acoustic Correlation
Two sensors, one calculation: turning a leak sound into a position.
Correlation places two sensors on the same run and measures the time difference of the leak sound arriving at each, calculating the position between them.
How it works
- Sensors placed on accessible contact points
- Distance and pipe material entered into the system
- Position marked on the surface for repair
Limits, stated plainly
- Requires access to both ends of the section
- Accuracy depends on pipe material and condition
- Always confirmed against pressure testing

Quick answers
Is Acoustic Correlation invasive?
No. The method works from surfaces and accessible points; if a small access point is needed to confirm a finding, it is discussed before anything is opened.
Can Acoustic Correlation be used on its own?
Acoustic Correlation is strongest when paired with a confirming method. Findings are only reported once verified, which is why single-method clues are labelled as such.
